128 liter tank

I have found the last of my big (or rather medium) size tanks for my small rack.

I bought this tank second hand in April 2002 including a lamp and some other equipment. It was placed on the third shelf of my small tank rack and replaced my 63 liter tank.

Technical setup

The tank is filtered by a blue filtration sponge measuring 40x40x5 cm with two air powered water lifts placed by the left side. It is heated by a 100 W Via Aqua steel heater with a separate sensor and outside temperature regulation. The lighting is a 18W fluorescent tube mounted above the tank, plus a single 5W light bulb that simulates dawn and dusk lights before the main lights come on. The lights are controlled be two weekly timers.

Interior

I haven't made much effort with the interior and decorations in this tank. The gravel is a thin layer of red granite, the classical Råda in size 0,8-1,2 mm. There is a cave and a few fist size rocks, and a root that divides the tank into two territories.

Plants

As for plants go, there is some Valisneria spiralis and floating plants, Horn wort (Ceratophyllum demersum) and Najas guadalupensis. They are all fast growing and contributes to keeping the water clean of surplus nutrition and such.

Use cases

The tank started as a grow out tank for Malawi fry and later it became a south american community tank. Then it went back in the original role as a grow out tank for Malawi fry and in the end it was a community tank for my C. sterbai, A. thomasi og M. altispinosus.

Status

My plan was to use the tank as a community tank for my guppies, C. sterbai, a carp fish species and some labyrinth fish, but in stead I sold the tank together with my small rack.
