This rack held 2 325 liters, and I bought the aquariums and rack together, which is by far the cheapest option compared to building racks yourself. On the other hand, it is not always made the way you would have done it yourself; for example, I think I would have put a set of legs in the middle of this rack at the bottom to support the center. I know someone who has a similar rack, but with 3 aquariums in height, and he has had no problems, so I didn't expect to have any problems, and there haven't been any.
The rack replaced my 430 liters, and even though the aquariums were a bit smaller, they opened up the possibility for me to test more fish "properly" and with my way of buying fish, that is a good thing.
Version I
When I bought the rack, it was completely open and only contained the two aquariums, the top aquarium was clearly the nicest, while the bottom aquarium was quite scratched and not as nice.
Version II
When my youngest daughter crawled under the bottom aquarium one day, I got nervous and therefore built two drawers on wheels for all my equipment, so it is now hidden away and no one can get under the aquarium anymore.
Version III
The last change I made was to build a cabinet for a Deluxe Artemia hatcher, which at the same time held the top aquarium against the wall so the rack couldn't tip over.
Lighting
The fixtures were full-length, double fluorescent tube fixtures, of Akvastabil's old model. The width was about half of the aquarium's and the fluorescent tubes were 36W. Additionally, I had mounted an E14 socket with a 5W energy-saving bulb in each fixture, and it turned on from early morning and turned off just before the main light turned on, and turned on again just before the main light turned off and turned off an hour after the main light. In this way, the transition from dark to light and vice versa was not as abrupt as usual. This form of lighting is normally referred to as dusk lighting.
The rack has been sold
After the bottom aquarium became leaky again, I got quite annoyed. Partly because 325 liters of water on the floor is a lot, and not least because the aquarium was also quite scratched. I therefore considered buying a new 325 liter instead, but actually, I would rather have a larger aquarium, for which there is no room.
My dear wife also mentioned at the same time that it would be nice if we had an extra desk where the children could draw, and after a couple of months of consideration, I agreed with myself that right now the best solution would be to sell the rack and the aquariums. It is not easy to find a buyer for a rack with a leaky aquarium, but there were nevertheless 3 who were interested and even though a few months passed from when I started looking for a buyer, I finalized the deal in mid-January 2006. I hope the new owner gets much enjoyment from the rack and the aquariums.
